As the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics approached, JHHY HOUSE successfully completed and delivered all functional Container Houses at the Yanqing Alpine Skiing Center just before New Year’s Day 2022.

A total of 350 container houses were deployed as temporary facilities in key areas of the Beijing Yanqing Alpine Skiing Center, including the Ski Racing Finish Zone, Competition Finish Zone, and OBS Integrated Broadcast Zone. All units have been fully installed. These temporary structures will provide comprehensive support for the events during the Beijing Winter Olympics and contribute to the creation of a sustainable Winter Olympics legacy.

Throughout the event, the concept of “Green Olympics” has been upheld. In addition to permanent venues, a number of temporary facilities have been deployed to provide crucial operational support during the games, while also significantly reducing costs, manpower, and construction time.

The temporary facility construction work undertaken by JHHY HOUSE primarily included the deployment of flat-pack container houses in both the Yanqing and Zhangjiakou competition zones, including:

In the Yanqing competition zone, the facilities are mainly distributed across the start area at the summit of the National Alpine Ski Center, mountain race tracks, competition and speed finish areas, commentator seating areas, and the OBS broadcasting complex.

These facilities include professional technical rooms, standard functional rooms, storage units, containerized mobile toilets, and accessible restrooms, such as:

●Olympic family and sponsor facilities

●Spectator service and heating rooms

●Integrated power supply buildings

●Heating rooms

●Public and accessible restrooms

●Anti-doping rooms

This temporary construction project was the first of its kind in China, involving a complex and highly scattered layout with very limited prior experience to reference.

The National Alpine Ski Center is located on Xiaohaituo Mountain, characterized by high altitude, severe cold, and strong winds. Temperatures at the summit can reach –30°C, and wind speeds can reach Force 12. These harsh natural conditions make the Yanqing zone the most challenging among the three Olympic competition zones in terms of terrain and climate, placing higher demands on the thermal insulation and heating performance of container buildings.

Some facilities, such as the OBS broadcasting rooms, medical stations, and equipment storage units located along the slopes, presented additional difficulties. Due to the steep slopes exceeding 60 degrees, transportation vehicles and lifting machinery could not reach the installation sites. In certain areas, even tracked excavators were unable to access the location.

With the project deadline rapidly approaching, immediate action was required. The on-site project manager in the Yanqing zone decisively adopted manual transportation and installation methods. More than 40 workers and project management personnel were quickly organized to carry the modular units by hand to their designated installation points.

For 12 continuous hours, the JHHY HOUSE team measured the Olympic mountain routes with their footsteps—demonstrating dedication and fulfilling their mission through action.

The Olympic Games are an important platform for promoting the spirit of sports, holding great significance for China. Facing tight construction deadlines, the on-site project manager emphasized strict schedule control and installation quality, while ensuring civilized construction practices. The team conducted multiple inspections daily and held regular meetings to review progress.

By leveraging standardized product design, 95% factory prefabrication, and modular assembly construction, JHHY HOUSE efficiently organized construction and successfully completed all installation tasks before New Year’s Day 2022.
